England has shared her with America ... her thoughts, sometimes, are sure to be In London where she was born, but her heart Is here in Klamath halls, the town she loes and where she hopes to stay, Wynn Lawrence, enroute to New York five years ago with members of the British Embassy, paying a courtesy call to our shores, met a press photographer for the New York Times who was terribly dry for a bit of Scotch . . . he'd tired of English rum on the HMS Sheffield so made a wager with the pretty English miss and lost ... his heart. From that moment the die was cast that brought Mrs. Fred Lawrence to the Pacific coast and eventually to Southern Oregon . . . Right now she is concerned with rushing toward American citizenship , , , because, she says "she want! to help keep Ike Iwhom she saw in London) in the White House." While she's petiently waiting for the mills of the courts to g-ind, she-is secretary at the AH-State Insurance Agency. She loves to hunt and fish and photograph her neighbors . . . she recalls with a hint of sad ness in her eyes, the war years in her homeland and the bombs that fell ... she remembers the shortages and the down-to-the bone-rationing, we suspicion she sometimes remembers with "gadgets" to the folks back home. As proof that she and her husband found their Utopia with "malice a-fore-thought," Wynn and Fred Lawrence read daily newspapers from 26 cities for a whole year before they decided on Klamath . . . isn't THAT a bouquet to the goad folks in our town?
