' Chemult By VIRGINIA TAYLOR Mrs. Mae Maxey reported sever al oew families at her cottages. Three of the families are from Lebanon. Oregon. They are the Olen Erwlns, Sam Erwins and Lee Erwins. They are operating their caw mill at Round Meadows about six miles East of Chemult. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Morgan of Sweet Home, Oregon have moved here also. Mr. Morgan is empioyea oy the Erwins. Ralph Watson who operates a t Ing and truck service was rushed into Bend the past week to undergo an emergency appendectomy. He is home now recuprating. Bill Hodge had minor surgery .Monuay, toiiowuig a deep lacera tion in Cls right nand while work ing on a car. He is the new mana ger of the Chevron Sation and just recently returned from Army duty in Germany. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Ramsey of Bly, are back for the summer. Mr. Ramsey 1$ employed by the high way Dept. The Chemult Gun Club held a successful snoot Sunday June . Most of its memoers look home coffee, bacon or hams. Out of town eis attending the shoot were Mr. and Mrs. f.. R. Gilbert of Bend and Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Taylor also of Bend. The next meeting of the Gilchrist Community Garden Clup will be held at the Club June IB. All mem bers are to bring the scrapbooas they have been Keeping to enter for the prizes to be awarded the best entries. Delegates to the stale convention were Mrs. Verne Bra der of Chemult and Mrs. Terrell of Gilchrist. They are the new presi dent and vice-president for the coming year. Mrs. S. C. Galbrealh also attended the convention. Visitors of the William Taylors the past week were: Mrs. Roy Johnson, Anchorage, Alaska, and her daughter, Mrs. George Ber nard, Seattle. They were enroute to Vallejo to meet Mr. Bernard. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Harris and a friend were weekend guests of the Grant Damons. Mrs. Freddie Fine has returned to Chemult from Eugene after spending the winter there. She Is empioyea at the Che mult Motel. Mrs. Elmer Holt relumed ine first of June from San Francisco where she has been the past eight months. Mr. and Mrs. Grady Gooch are on a short trip to California. Mr. George Epperson motored to the Hogue River to attend business rou tine at his ranch there. The local Civic Improvement club has ordered a slide and other play ground equipment for the recently acquired Club site. Tables and benches, and a fireplace for all is In the planning tages. The lumber for the tables and enches has been donated. Ladies of the Chemult Sunday School are planning a food sale June 2U. The proceeds will be used to furnish aid to the redecorating of a room in the Chapel for use of a graduate from Prairie Hills Bi ble School, Tnree Hills, Alberta, Canada. He wil arrive about July 1 to help with the local and nearby communities church work. Merrill Gullingrud and Dorothy Tillman, Canada, kept the little ones interested Sunday with interesting stories and flannelgraphs. Miss Till man played several numbers on her accordion. Don Brader, son of Mr. and Mrs. V. I. Brader flew to Anchorage from Seattle where he will be em ployed this summer. He will at tend the University this fall. Snow melting along Miller Creek faster than usual created quite a problem at the Beaver Marsh Air port the last week, it began over flowing the drainage ditch and left a good portion of the field flooded. FORT KLAMATH By MYRTLE W1MER Roy Wlmer was called to Ban- don last week by news of the death oi bis nephew. Alvin J.Morrev.49, and the latter's son-in.law, 33-year-old Donald Herbert Hall, of Ban don. The fatalities were the result of a truck-car collision near Co quille. Wimer is employed here as a truckdriver for the Modoc Lum ber Co.. and his home is in Med' lord. Making the trip to Bandon for final riles for Morrey and Hall were Mr. and Mrs. Roy wimer and their daughter. Mrs. Elmer Zum brun. all of Medford. During his absence. Byous is a member of the Eunice High School faculty, and is now attending summer school at Oregon State College Mrs. Bvous is the former Ethelva Loosley, and her family expect to visit here a week at the Loosley home. They have re tained their residential property here, however, and plan to return to visit from time to time.
