OREGON SATURDAY, MAY 24, 1M2 PAGE SIX GRIGGS-ROWLAND NUPTIAL VOWS : FXCHANGED IN HOME WEDDING A home wedding was solemnized April 20, 2 p.m., when Evalyn Inez Rowland and James Lee Griggs exchanged vows with the bride's lather, Kev. L. W. KOwland ot tne first Bap tist Church, as officiating minister. The service was read in the home of the bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Griggs, 4305 Laverne Avenue. Distinctive arrangements of pink and white snapdragons in two beauty vases backed with woodwardia fern, placed at either end of a large mirror, were illuminated with lighted white tapers in candelabra. The bride was given in riage by Cres Reed, a friend of the family. The bride was lovely In a gown mar- of whlto Chantllly lace over heavy white satin with a net yoke out lined In seed pearls. Her fingertip veil was of Imported French lace held with . a headband of seed pearls. She carried a large while orchid with stephbjiotls lied with white satin streamers on a white Bible. Her onlv attendant was Barbara Perkins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. K. Perkins, 3433 Hope. She wore a pale pink ankle length frock with a full skirt, and a fit ted cap to match. Her bouquet was of carnations, rose-buds and ste phanotis. Plower girl was JoLene Webber, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Web ber 4333 Laverne Avenue, and rlngbearer was Johnny Render .hii nn of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Henderohott, 4307 Clinton. The bridegroom's attendants were: Cameron Stewart, best man. and Laron Griggs and Jay Orurgs. ushers. Cameron Is the son of Mrs. Nell Stewart. 1628 Portland. He Is a pre-med student at Portland Uni versity. Larcn Grlcgs Is uncle of James, and Jay Cirlggs. a cousin. Mrs. Rowland, mother of the bride wore a floor length dress of navy blue crepe, with navy blue accessories and her corsage was of pink rosebuds.. Mrs. Griggs chose a rose-pink crepe, also floor length and tier corsage was the same as Mrs. Rowlands. Ronnie Hershberger, organist, ac companied Patsy Young, soloist. After the ceremony the reception was held at the Griggs home. Sha-.tm Ash mured and Martha Ivie cut the cake. Mrs. Carl Wools assisted. Deanne Noel passed the guest book. Out of town guests included tne bridegroom's grandparents, Mr. and M-s. Lee Manson, Payson. Utah: and Mrs. Ci.fford Woods, Downey. California. For her going away costume the new Mrs. Origgs wore a white ny lon Jersey suit with red acces sories. Thev honevmooned In Los Angelis. and will be at home. 814 East is:h Street. Euene until June 15. Mrs. Loren Palmerton. 1951-1952 president, has completed her year with her committees on the "Magic Carpet" theme. , . . Mrs. W. D. MiUer. assisted by Mrs. Glen Bowen. arranged the clever decorations for each of the cine regular meetings. The program committee had as lis chairman Mrs. Clarence Ward. Mrs. Stewart Snell and her com mittee of 17 caUed members for each meeting. Mrs. Don Zumwalt arranged for manv musical programs along with the regular spring musical in April. Tea chairman was Mrs. John Ashley and Mrs. Albert Zenger compiled the acrapbook. Other chairmen included Mrs. George Clark, membership; Mrs. Fred Hoagland. hospitality: Mrs. Emfi Albrecht. budget: Mrs. C. W. Fyock. defense: Mrs. Victor O'Neill, poetry; and Mrs. Charles Gilbert, legislative. Aloha Chapter 61 OES Meets Tuesday evening. May 13. Aloha Chapter 61 Order of the Eastern Star met in regular session with Mrs. L. A. Murphy and Mr. Elmer Bramlett presiding. After the business session, a recess was declared and a Moth er's Day program, honoring Mrs. Murphy, the Worthy Matron, was presented by the Misses Jackie Murphy with a reading, and Ruby Goehrlng with vocal numbers ac companied at the piano by Ann Henderson. Miss Jackie Murphy is the daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. L. A. Murphy. Host and hostess of the evening were Alva P. Oldham and Ella McMillan. The friendship girls of the eve ning were: Thelma Short. Leona Angel, Maude Wright. Margaret Sheridan. Beulah Balslger and Gretchen Thompson. It was reported that Mrs. Murphy and Mr. and Mrs. Alva P. Oldham had attended a meetiiv ot the Southern Oregoa District oi Eastern Star, held at Roseburg on April 37, also that a reception was held at Grants Pass. In honor ol Mrs. Carlotta, Wiseman, member of Grand Chapter of Oregon, on April 21. which was attended by Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Murphy, Mr. and Mrs. Alva P. Oldham. Mrs. Maurice Sherman and Martha Powell all of Aloha Chapter in Klamath Falls. After the meeting Tuesday eve ning, refreshments were served by Ethel Hopkins, Dorothv Tvrell, Mildred Patterson, Phyllis Poole, Lena Fowler and Ethel KarLJon. Next meeting will be held on Tuesday evening. May 27. A VACATION IN THE ISLANDS . . .for a Klamath trio, Mrs. Anna Lander, and her niece and nephew, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Miss Joan Cote advised and assisted the girls. Each mother was presented with a corsage of carnations. The lace covered table was centered with an arrangement of red carnations and fern. Punch was served by May Chains, and Marlanna Wagner poured. The tastv and dainty tea sandwiohes, cakes, mints and salted nuts, made by the girls were served by them to the guests.
