The sturdy tables were made by Oren Btorey and olher furniture has been created from odds and ends, there Is need for more substantial equipment for another year. Objectives for the class are high. Mrs. Storey has taken the children through a rigorous regime of preparation for first grade life next fall and made It all seem like one long year of play. They have learned health habits, safety rules, rhythm and cooiier- atlon games, to cut and paste, and snw and hummer; to finger-palm and experiment with clay, and to speak beforo a group; to act out stories, love of books and poetry, and how to uie a library. Abilities have been recognized and encouraged. The children have learned natural history from car ing for turtles nnd frogs, ham sters and white mice. A field trip to the Black and White and the Llskey ranches recently climaxed this part of their training. They have made their own cook ies, served with milk for their luncheons, have helped with par ties lor Moms and their guests, took part In last fall's Potato Fes tival parade. Class hours have been from 9 to 11.30 a.m., following the sched ule of other county schools on time and holidays. The county nurse. Mrs. Harold West, made regular visits. The class started last Sept. 10 and will close this week. District VKW and Auxiliary of ficials have commended work of the small group responsible for Die clnss. Mrs. Webb-Bowen suggested that the clubs III. the district make flower arrangements for the 4-H I club fair next fall. Mrs. Ernest Jcrmark. chairman Young Folks Honored By Soroptimists Daughters and sons of Soropti mist members were honored at the annual mother, daughter, son luncheon of the club Mav 16 in the Pelican party room. President Ola Smith presided. Tempo of the entire program wan geared to the young guests. Table decorations included figurines of dolls and kittens. The program was arranged by Elolse Mclntyre and Annolv Uher ck Mrs. Mclntyre presented Rich ard Tracy In three vocal numbers, 'Hummer Time," by Oershwln, "Homing" by Salmon and "Road ways" by Densmore. Mrs. Uherek presented the Annely Uherek Dance group including Suzanne Goeller, Marvlvn Miller. Angellka Uherek end Roberta Uherek in five varied and creative dance numbers. They were 'Mlnuete", "Vienna Woods." "Cowboy from Vienna." "Gypsy Bonn' and "Kiss Waltz." Other guests present for the well attended affair were Mrs. Cecil Drew. Mrn. Greer Drew and her mother.
