Library Bridge .Club At Merrill MERRILL Three tables of bridge were In play ine miernooii if Mav 8, when Mrs. Lucille Gray end Mrs. Ray Merrill entertained members of the Library Bridge club in ihe recreation hall. Bouquets of tulips were placed t bout the room and spring flowers entered each table. ' At tne end of plav, prizes were awarded to Mrs. Mervyn Shuck for hltrii score, Mrs. Perrv Haley for low score, and Mrs. ' Sherman Wtldrip for traveling pri!. Next meeting will be May 22. when Mrs. O. V. Peeves and Mrr. Tom Laird will entertain with a 1:30 dessert luncheon at the home of the former. Canton Crater 7 Auxiliary Ladies Auxiliary to Canton Cra ter 7 met Mav in the IOOF Hall. Ladv Kate Hogue, president, con ducted the meeting. A major por tion of the rest of the evening was devoted to practice for the associa tion meeting In Salem May 17-18. Lady Pearl Harris, officer of the guard drilled her association hon or guards, Ladies Kate Hogue, ivy Drew, Lina Motschenbacher and Harriett Estes. Lady Mae Anderson, Junior oast president, will install the new of- ucers ai ine ciose 01 association meeting. Assisting Lady Mae will be Lady Hazel McNeill, adjutant. Lady Jennie Hum. chaplain and Francis MunseU, aside. Ladies Pearl Harris, Ivy Drew and Kate Hogue served refresh ments. Square Dance at Community Hall A new group of square dancers were entertained at their first ses sion in the South Sixth Community Hall by Sarge Patterson, Saturday May 10. Patterson, who is an outstanding singing caller has an advanced group of his own in Portland, calls with Jack O'Donnel of the Haylolt In that city, and conducts a dance program over radio station KPOJ. He and Mrs. Patterson were house guests of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Sedler, 1955 Del Moro Street. Otto Ellis, well known local caller, also appeared as a guett caller for the group, which plans to meet every .two weeks. Extension Unit A large representation of Mailn Extension Unit ladles attended the Homemakers Festival May 8. at the County Fair Grounds Building. The Malln Unit displayed in the exhibit booths, purses, which the members had made. Used as a background for the purse display were artificial palm sprays and Hawaiian straw mats. The picture of the Malln purse display was printed recently in the local paper. A Hawaiian theme was also chosen by the Malln decorating committee for the tables alloted to them to decorate- The table was centered with a fresh fruit display placed upon straw mats and along the table was placed small grass huts and dolls dressed in grass skirts. Those who were present for the meeting and luncheon were; Mrs. Norma Petrasek, Mrs. Ann Payer, Mrs. Emma Morelock, Mrs. Ruybe Kujac, Mrs. Gladys Rajnus, Mrs. Jerry Rajnus, Mrs, Maple Lyon;, Miss Jean Rajnus. Her parents and brother George Fischer Jr., went north for fes tivities. Mr. and Mrs. Fischer were patrons at the dance that followed the crowning. Among the six Princesses in her court were two girls, known locally, Joan McDonald daushter of Mr. and Mrs- C. E- McDonald. Lakevirw and Molly Cashin, Eu gene, daughter at J. A. lasnin. this city. The 1952 aueen wore a strapless white tulle formal wil sprays ot red roses and members of hr court were In pastels garlanded with roses. Queen Helene s royai robe was red velvet and her crown was studded with pearls. She was escorted by Marvin Thomas Jr., Tu'alake, junior at Oregon Slate College. Helene, an accomplished pianist, and vocalist, student of David Campbell. Portland, win be grad uated from SU Helen's in June and will enter Stanford next fall. Orions Meeting Orions met on the evening of May 13. at the home of Mrs. Frank Mc- Cornack, Lakesbore Drive. Bandages were made for me American Cancer Society. Lor raine Johnson will give a demon stration and discussion on "The Art of Exhibiting Art." in is meeting is designed to be helpful to those who have a prob lem, of displaying objects of art both in their homes and in rooms not designed for exhibition. Rangers Given Farewell Party A potluck dinner in honor nf Ranger and Mrs. Jack Magee, Al- turas, ana assistant Ranger and Mrs. Craig Griffin was given at the Canby community Hall early in May by Forest Service employes of the Modoc National Forest and their wives. The occasion was to bid fare well to the two families who are transferring to other forests. Jack Magee was not present: he had already gone to his new station In the San Bernardino National For est. His wife. Katherine and daugh ter Sallv represented the family, and n ill leave for their new ad dress after school is out. Department Secretary were recent visitors to Klamath Falls. They were met by Mrs. Fred Hetlbronner, Auxiliary Convention Chairman and Mrs. Hal Ogle. After inspecting the proposed con vention hall and other affairs, they attended a no-host dinner at the Wincma Coffee Shop. In the evening, an Impromptu meeting was held discussing the coming convention with ten chair men present. On Saturday, after further delib erations, the officers returned to Portland.
