New Freeway

Construction of a four and a half
mile section of freeway, most of

north of Dunsmuir will get under
way in the near future, according
to the California Division of High
ways, j
Bids on the mammoth 1ob were
opened at Sacramento Wednesday
and the firm submitting the low
est bid was A. Piechert and Son
Construction Company of Sacra
mento.
The company's figure was $1,048,
738.50. There were nine other bidders.
The construction is to run from
the north limits of Dunsmuir north
to Big Canyon toward Mt. Shasta,
and the project will be a divided
four-lane freeway for the entire
length with the exception of a three.
