Lodge Going To Portland SALEM IP U. S. Sen. Henry Cabot Lodce Jr., of Massachusetts, national campaign manager for General Eisenhower, will be in Portland May 5 to talk with Eisen hower's Oregon workers, William L. Phillips, chairman of the Ore gon for Elsenhower Committee, announced Wednesday. Phillips said each local Elsen hower committee In the stale is being asked to send five delegates to the conference, which will last most of the day. Lodge will hold a press confer ence late that afternoon. A public rails- is scheduled lor that evening. Phillips said other key men in the national Eisenhower organiza tion would campaign in Oregon before the May 18 primary. Fencel took one look into the cab, then started his motorcycle and with siren wide open led the way to Jefferson hospital. H turned out the baby's birth was still a matter of hours away but Fencel was still plenty nervous. The cab passenger was his wife. Salem Theater Tax Killed SALEM Iff1 The City of Eugene's S per cent tax on theater admis sions was thrown out by Uie Ore pon Supreme Court Wednesday on the ground that Uie city's charter doesn't permit such a tax.
