CLYDE BRAMLETTE A large tractor running wild through the streets of Paisley, sans driver, and with Its throttle wide open caused much excitement In this lltue town mursaay anernoon. An employe of the Brattaln Brothers ranch drove the tractor into town on the highway and de cided to take a short cut through the vacant lots Just west of the Chester Withers residence. But what the driver didn't know was that a three foot ditch there was full of soft snow and when the tractor hit It the driver was cata pulted to the ground and in falling he grabbed for the steering wheel but hit the throttle pulling it wide open. Prrlrstrians scattered every way as the machine careened crazily down the center of town and head ed right for the George Dearm residence, but luckily the DeLarm Plvmonth sedan was parked in front of the house and the speeding tractor plowed into the rear of it. badly damaging tne car ana nau inir the tractor thereby probably saving the life of Mrs. DeLarm and her two small children who were looking through a front win dow and were too frightened to move when the big tractor ap peared about five feet in front of them and headed in tneir direc tion. The VFW in Paisley is one of our newest organizations, being or ganized about three years ago, but its quality or state of being young has not prevented it from becom ing of Intrinsic and material value for bringing human comfort. Walter Carter, highway foreman at Lakeview came to the rescue with sticks of dynamite blasting the frozen mass and relieving the situation. .Mtlaki By MRS. CHAS.
