The publishers groups charged In 1847 the union were attempting to continue closed shop conditions in new contract in violation oi the Taft-Hartley law. The atrlke against the five dallies started after the publisher refused to grant pay increase to printers witnout a contract. The strike ended with the print ers accepting a 110 weekly puy boost and Uie union agreeing to abide by the Tall-Hartley law.
