He blames such bigwigs for television's fallings. Including nts own. "My shows have been pretty bad," he admitted openly, "except Uie last one. The reason Is that until now I had been doing what everybody else said I was sup posed to do. But on the last one. I disregarded their advice and did the kind of show I wanted. The sponsor was dropping the series anyway, so what did I have to lose? "These executives have a lot of screwy notions about TV. They say everything has to have movement. Even if you're standing still and doing a monologue, there has to be two guys running around behind you. "After all, entertainment Is en tertainment, whether you're run ning race or standing still. But you can't convince executives of that. I've always thought that the meeting .of executive minds pro duced the quintessence of nothing." The Boston comic has had many a run-in with executives. It started back with his first air show. The wife of one of the sponsors liked organ music. "We were trying to put on a snappy-show." recalled Allen, "but we had' it tstop in the middle of It to switch to tho New York Para mount for two minutes of, organ music." Last night In municipal court at Malin Mrs. Betty Meyer, one ol the participants, was found guilty of a charne of disorderly conduct and her attorney, U. S. Balentlne, said he would, appeal the convic tion to the higher court. Mrs. Meyer was to be sentenced this afternoon, and also this after noon another Saturday night visi tor at the tavern. Herb Hunt, was scheduled for trial on a drunk charge. A third participant In the fight. Virgil Meyer," Mrs. Meyer's es tranged husband, Monday- was given a - suspended jail sentence and left town, while a fourth. Earl Liggett, paid a $25 fine, -START The light, according to evidence presented at Mrs. Meyer's trial last night, apparently had Its be ginnings with Mr, and Mrs. Meyer, but Involved most of the people in the tavern before It was over. Mrs. Mildred Boynton, tavern oper ator, and a man, Pat Rosencranz, got the worst of It. Mrs.. Boynton said she was try ing to break up the scuffle be tween Mr. and Mrs. Meyer, alter Mrs. Meyer had been knocked down twice, when she became em broiled in the fight. Rosencranz was knocked down by Hunt. Hunt and his wife. Hazel, and Mrs. Meyer went to the tavern and there, according to the testimony, Meyer tried to Join the party. LAUGHTER Hunt became Involved when he laughed while Mrs. Boynton was scuffling with the Meyers. He said Mrs. Boynton told him he wasn't much of a gentleman to sit there and see her manhandled. He replied that she owned the tavern and . If she wanted "to rassle on the floor with the cus tomers" It was all right with him. ROsencranz entered the fray' to help out. Mrs. Boynton and when he tried' -to get a pool cue was hit by mint,' according to testl ony. ' (City Recorder Bonnie Stephens, acting as police )udge, ruled Mrs. Boynton was within her rights in trying to keep order in her place and eject persons creating a dis turbance.
