I An annual rate increase of $397,449 is betas sought by the California Oregon Power Co. from 75.000 customers in Oregon and California. The company Thursday asked the California public utilities com mission to approve a $115,838 in crease for residents of Siskiyou, Modoc. Trinity. Shasta and the northern halt of Del Norte coun ties in Northern California. The company said it la also ask ing the Oregon Power commission for a $291,423 Increase for custom ers it serves In southern Oregon. Earlier applications were filed In Oregon and California for in creases totaling $1,043,000 annually but were withdrawn last month. PTA Dropped By Bonanza BONANZA About 85 members were present this week when the Bonanza PTA organization voted to withdraw from the Parent-Teachers association and form a Parents Patrons club. The reasons were reported to be financial. The PTA is a national organiza tion, with some dues money going to national programs, while the Parents-Patrons Is a local organi zation with much the same aims as the PTA. LP A bakinz com pany otjck driver admitted Thurs day he bad swindled Portland grocers out of about 100 weekly for the past five years, police said. That would amount to about $25. 000. Det. Capt. William Browne reported. Orville P. Bailey, 33. the driver, was arrested after a grocer (jot to wondering why his bakery goods profits were so small. The grocer, William Linden, went to police. In turn, two detectives visited Linden's store and checked bis pastry stock. They checked again after Bailey made his delivery The driver collected $28 from Lin den, but left only 110.38 worth o! supplies, Browne said the detec tives found. Another store was checked. It bad 76 fruit cakes. Bailey ap peared and collected for 10 cakes, but a. count showed he had leit none. Bailey admitted the swindle in a signed statement, Browne said, and was held under $3000 ball. County Forest Fund Greater Klamath county will receive ap proximately $328,080 as its share of national forest receipts for the 1951 fiscal year ending June 30. according to Regional Forester J. Herbert Stone. This doubles last year's take In receipts, with timber sales provid ing the largest share of Income. Grazing and land use revenues pro vided the balance. Twenty-five percent of all na tional forest receipts are distribut ed to counties in proportion to the amount of national forestland con tained within their boundaries.
