Dr. Oerhart Beger, former Ger man legislator and editor ol German language newspaper In the U.S. during world war two exposed to members of the Klamath anile and fork club at the WUlard last night some things about their coun try that most were willing to admit they hadn't known before. Speaking on "What Makes Amer ica Tick," Dr. Begcr gave listen ers a look at Amsrica and Ameri cans through the eyes o( foreigners observing this country. Perhaps the greatest difference between the American and Euro pean philosophies, he said, is (he American's conception of lairncss. FAIRNESS1 There Is no word for 'fairness.' " he said, "in any of the six Europ ean languages I speak. They have no such concept." Politicians In America call their political foes opponents." he 6ild. Vet they call Russia an enamy. Dr. Seger noted that tills was one of the most difficult things tor foreigners to understand. In Europe, he said, a politician hasn't got one good word to say about or to hs opponent. Dr. Seger said the occupation forces have done a "maguillcent" job in Germany. He applauded the American con stitution as one of the basic rea sons for America's secure ticking away for nearly 200 years. "America is a young nation." he said, "but it is one of the world's oldest democracies."
