Teams Vie December 8, 9, 10 Basketball takes over the local sports spotlight Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights of this week It s the fourth annual SO-SO club cage Jamboree. The site Is the Klamath Union high school gymnasium. The teams competing in the three night round-robin competition are Klamath Falls Pelicans. Salem Vi kings, La Grande Tigers and Tigart Tigers. The schedule follows: Thursday 7 p. sa. Salem vs. La Grande. S:M p. sa. Klamath vs. Tigard Friday 7 p- an. Salem vs. Tigard 6:W p. as, Klamath vs. La Grande Saturday 1 p. m. Tigard vs. La Grande 6:3 p. sa. Klamath vs. Salem BANQVET Saturday morning. o'clock, the Jamboree banquet will be held at the Willard hotel. All teams will be present and Oregon Tech Football Coach Dale Daugherty will be the guest speaker. Plans are to take the visiting teams to Crater lake if the weather permits. The 30-30 basketball Jamboree has proven very successful in the past and the high school gym is expect ed to be loaded for the three-night tournament BUMP MAKES LOCAL BOW Chalmers (Bump) Elliott, back f;eld cooch for Oregon State college, will be in Klamath Falls Thursday evening to attend a meeting and banquet of locol OSC alumni and friends of the Corvallis college. Elliott, for mer Michigan All-America halfback, will be accompanied by Dr. C. E. Moser and Bob Knoll. The banquet will be held ot the Winema hotel; starting time is 6:30 p. m. Conley Dumps 25 as WSC Spanks Savages All-Americans The crowd at the KTJHS gym Sat urday night was surprisingly small considering the cage talent that romped up and down the hardwood. The Oakland Blue n Gold Nug gets (formerly the Blttners) had a crew sprinkled with AU-Amerlcans. Four were on the roster, but Mush Silver, brilliant ex-Oregon Stater, wasnt on hand. But Don Barksdale and Dave Minor, formerly of UCLA time, gave the crowd a load of thrills with their cage savvy. ; Another All-America player, al- i though not as flashy, was Dave Ma- i riani, formerly of Santa Clara. The one-man spree by the sopho more center enabled the Cougars to take a 58-40 decision over the Eastern Washington Savages. The losers held a 34-23 half time edge and hung tight throughout, largely to the Jl-polnt efforts ot Dick Eicher. Not until six and a half minutes of the second half elapsed when Tim Howell sank a long shot and a free throw did WSC take and keep the lead. The game.
