Toys, book. dolU. mittens, capa, on ao many things that would be remembered not alone aa wel- Holidays of Other Years Bring Memories to Klamath Folks By IDA MOMYER ODELL In every person's life there is one Christmas which stands alone In memory, either for happiness received, or some event which trajfic at the time, the years have soft ened into aminement. In the memories which follow you come gitu but through the long win may catatoir them for yourself. i JS The old Presl.yterian church stood on the corner of Tt 3rd and Pine. On this Christmas night of lontr ao it was caught eight, far up in the branch.. a cheerful sik'ht as the lights shone through the windows upon the glisterning snow. Many were the teams tied to the old hitching rack with either a sleigh or a buggy as conveyances for those who lived tool far to walk, tiwlde the old church all wei warmth, and many pair of wnt eve were glued unon the magnlflrent tree loaded with glfu. But before the arrival of Old ra ther Santa, little Slrta and boya had to alng, recite, or Jiut aund on the platform In their dainty drewea or clean eulta while someone else talk ed about them. Lyle's mamma was an artist of note and many of her beautiful paintings adorn Klamath walls to this day. Froudly the angels stood, very conscious of their wings, as Molly recited her part of the cantata Wolly of the dancing eyes and teady wit. A tree which was a tree to top all trees stood In the corner of the old Bonanza schoolhouse. On 11 year old had made up his mind that even If he didn't get the XI his heart waa longing for he wouldn't be too disappoint ed. But. you've guessed It, he did. and with shining eyes he returned to hla seat after Santa had handed the beautiful thing with Its polished barrel and velvety slock to him. Happiness waa complete, life left nothing to be desired s he thought), and waa so busy fondling his new gun that a comrade had to nudge him when his name waa call ed the second time. Wedding bells should fix that little matter. and put Christmas candles on 1L It waa truly a lovely thing and Net tle gazed on it with pardonable pride, aa related by her sister, Mrs. Walker. On Christmas morn I n g after the excitement from emptying the Mocking had subsided Nettle glanced shyly around to sea If her cake had had a piece eaten out of It. and uie ENTIRE cake had disappeared. What a gratified little girl ah waa. In or under the itockmga were candy, nuu, applea from Joe Con ger's orchard, and pride of a boy s heart, red top boots with brass toe. While Mrs. Walker waa telling me about the boot, a big chuckle made us both glance at Sam. He was an ting there with a big grin and In terrupted to say: "I got s pair of red-top boot with bras toe on Christmas and they wen filled with cookies. I couldn't 'get the cookie out fait enough to get my feet In and couldn't get ut of the house fast enough when the boot were on to find a can to kick. Best thing I ever got for Christmas." j-ff.
