County Sani tarian John Edge reported today. No samples of food served to Al tamont students In the school cafe teria last Wednesday were available for testing. Some 70 youngsters became ill after eating the Thanksgiving meal. Questionable Edge said three items on the menu mere considered questionable but there was evidence pro and con on all three. The turkey dressing first was blamed for the poisonmg but there is no conclusive proof that it a as responsible or that any par ticular item on the menu was re sponsible. Edge said the county health de partment turned up no evidence of negligence or carelessness In prep aration or handling of the food and that the cafeteria Is operated In a sanitary manner. 'Murdered' Girl Found Alive MONROE. La, Nov. 29 IjPV A pretty brunette carnival worker whose -murder-' wss described by an Arkansas convict, is alive in Texas, police here reported today. Police Sgt. L. C. Taylor said au thorities at Port Arthur. Tex, had told him that grey-eyed Ellen Cruse of OUa. La, was working at a ring tossing concession operated there by an amusement company. At Little Rock. Ark. Set. J. H. Porterfleld of the Arkansas state po lice had quoted William Wayne iBUiy) Kidd. zi-year-old transient, as saying he killed the girl and threw her body into a bayou near Bastrop, La, last month, a few weeks after they were married. McKay Stands Pat on Saving Oregon Yater Two Klamath Palls men. William Ganong, attorney for the KID and Charles Stark, chamber of com merce manager, were present in Governor Mi-Kay's ofdee yesterday for a discussion of possible diversion of surplus waters from the North west to California and Nevada. S. P. MrCasland. a USBR offi cial, brought word that a prelim inary aurvey of the water diversion question was under consideration, but that no action had been taken or was contemplated in the near future. fenditlon It was carefully pointed out ov McCasland. however, that any such probe would be designed to make sure there was enough surplus aster before any would be diverted. Dr. W. T. Palmer, chief economist with the USBR said. "There has been a kit of loose talk about surplus aster In the Northwest, but how much there may be after making maximum diversions locally might be an entirely different thing." McKay rat Governor Mi-Kay stood pat on his statement that he would oppose any such diversion of Oregon waters to California or anywhere else until he has made certain that all po tential demands far the state have been assured.
