Today a crew of Klam oth Falls carpenters pitched in and built Lee a chicken house on his property at 1845 Gary. Labor wos donated os well os materials which came from local firms. Roy Hill was chairman of the carpenter crew which went on duty eorly this morning. It was a cooperative deal between the local carpenters union and the Oregon state rehabilitation department. Lee lost both arms-18 months ago while operating a shovel. Nor. 5 (P) The NsUonal ReclamaUon associa tion ended its annual convention late yesterday by adopting 38 of 39 reso lutions, tabling one, re-electing all officers except two who resigned, and choosing Spokane, Wash, as Uie 1950 convenUon city. The one resolution upon which the delegates from 17 western states could not agree would have approved Uie principle of limiting Uie size of reclamation farm units but would have asked that the pres ent 160-acre legal maximum be re pealed or modified to meet present day conditions. -Differences Nevada wanted outright repeal ot Uie limitation without approval ot Uie principle. Colorado proposed a compromise limiting Uie effects of the resolution to privately-owned land which get only part ot their watter from reclamation projects. The motion to table Uie resolu tion carred 11 states to six, with California, Montane. Nevada, New Mexico, South Dakota and Texas voUng for 160-acre-Umit repeal. A resoluUon asking congress to give states absolute UUe to sub merged lands was opposed by Kan sas, Nebraska and Oklahoma on Uie grounds lt did not directly affect reclamation. The 14 other states, however, led by Texas and Califor nia, approved the measure.
