Getting the buck u much a matter of luck at skill. being at the right place at the right time. The hunter bagging the strangest quarry waa Harold Marks, whose "buck" waa a doe. Yes, a doe with horns I Three point, on both sides. Mark iUU can't believe It though ti uw it, and tne others in me group were ail dumotounded. They were Mr. Marks and Ramona, Mr. and Mr. Ward Craves, Ralph and Ike O raves, and Ike son, Ralph, and Bill Huckahy of Klamath Falls, camped at Coyote creek the first three daya la season. Huckaby also got a buck, a real one. Guests The Earl Smiths had week-end ruest October ( and t. They were Karl two brothers from Klamath Pall. Ray and Tom Smith. Tom waa nappy over the nice lour point buck he killed. Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Newman and eon, Ivan, of Springfield came here lor the opening of hunting season and were guests at Mrs. Newman nephew', Don Huck and family. Thry, all three, had deer tags, and were lucky to each get their buck. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Schlodtfelt have been hunting In these woods on sev eral occasions, and Bob, a veteran hunter, 1 living down the fact that tha little woman, a tenderfoot in the woods, shot a nice big buck. her first one. Fred West, ton of Mr. and Mrs. Archie West, experienced the thrill of hi young lifetime by getting his first buck the second day of season. Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Spencer of Klamath Falls 'were week-end KuesU of the H. S. Bridges tne first two day of open season. Also vis iting the Bridges were hit brother. Wade, and a friend of Portland, for several day the first week In Oc tober. They came down to hunt deer. Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Patrick of Klamath Falls were guests at the Oeorge Rogers the first few days of hunting season. Mr. and Mr. R. D. Leatherwood of Red Bluff. Calif, were guesta of hi uncle and family, the Aroell Leatherwoods. October 2. A friend. Norman Fisher, was with them. Former residents of camp came back up the opening of season to hunt. They were Walt Henderson and sons, Charles Rene, and Billie, and son-in-law, Jim Baker. They vi sited old friends In camp but camp ed out while hunting. Camping with the Thomas Thom sons the first two days of season, were Bill Elkott and, son Bobble, and Herb Cockraqf of Klamath Falls. i ' Mrs. Fred Petes of Klamath Falls (topped at the George Rogers home a while Thursday while up here to try for a buck. Mrs. George Rogers spent from 6unday till Wednesday visiting in Lakeview at the home of her son and family, the BUI Rogers and yer sister and family, the R. E. Pat ricks. Her son and his . wife and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Morris and baby daughter brought her home Wed- nesday evening end staved for the evening. George Rogers had been over In Camp 4 for several days falling Umber. Mr. and Mr. R. E. Patrick and sons, Mike and Denny, spent Sat urday and Sunday as guest of the George Rogers in camp. Sunday they all went hunting and Mrs. Pat rick bagged a buck. Mr. and Mrs. Jules V, Napier of Eugene were guests of the Hank Napier the first two day of sea son. Hank and his son went hunting and Jules got hit buck. Mr. and Mrs. Benny Lohr of Eu gene were guest of the Hank Na pier lor several days recently. Thry got their buck to take home, camp 4 came over one day last week, bringing tneir thre sons, and were dinner guest at Car parents, the Henry Napier. Mr. and Mrs. Don Huck and son Darwin were guest at the L. A. Smiths' of Keno tor a week recent ly while Huck was working at camp 4. Mr. and Mrs. James Phillips ot Klamath Falls spent last week-end with the Don Huck while hunting. Mr. and Mr. George Roger at tended a pinochle party In Lakeview the evening of September 30. and Mrs. Roger won the high prise tor the evening, Mr. and Mrs. James Barnett and sons. Jimmy and Gerry, arrived Oc tober 13 from Portland lor several days visit at the home of Mrs. Bar nett's sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Don Huck. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Brown ot Eagle Point were here visiting at their son's home. Leon Brown and family, at the beginning of hunting season. The Leon Browns drove to Red ding, Calif, last Thursday and spent a couple of days visiting Mrs. Brown's parents there, the Can non's. Mrs. Leonard Bright of Bly has been staying in camp with Mrs. Oils Hall, while their husbands are em ployed at camp 8. The two Chandler children who's birthdays fall on September 5th and 7th, celebrated Jointly on Septem ber 2nd with a birthday party giv en for them by their mother. Molly Kay became 4 years old and Sam my Wayne became 10. On Wednesday the 14th of Sep tember the ladies of the Card and Luncheon club held a regular meet ing with Bessie Morehead playing hostess. A game of bmgo followed the usual luncheon with Pearl Hen derson and Wanna Leatherwood winning the prises. The club Initi ated a new memoer that day. Mrs. Charlie Wright. Mabel Rogers was a guest of the club on that day and also "Grandma Emmons" of Bly. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Smith are new residents In camp, coming here from their ranch home near Dairy, which they sold recently. They are occupying the house which used to be Wlnf ield's. Mrs. Gordon Good developed a severe case of skin-infection on her arm due to a weed-allegry, In early September. She went to Klamatn Fall to take treatments lor it, staying at the Bill Jones nome. One of the hol h received had a negative ettert which necessitated a trip to Hillside hospital via ambu lunce, where she remained a week She waa able to return nome Sat uroay September The Kldon Chandler and (Tie Ar nell Lcauierwooas spent the Labor Day holiday on a camping trip on the Chewaucau river near Paisley. The Carl Moreheads took an ex tended auto trip during September whence they vulted numerous rela tive in Texas and Araaiuas. They wore gone about 30 days. Mr. and Mrs. Archie West and 1 sons visited relatives in the Rogue River valley over Labor Day. Te California Mr. and Mrs. Ward Graves took a trip by car the Labor Day weea end. to Weetpoint. calif, wnere they visited the Vernal Duncan family. Enroute they visited Reno and Car son Cr.y, Nev. and saw Lake Ta li oe on their way back. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Mark and daughter Ramona spent Labor Day camping on Beaver creek. Joe Leatherwood mas a 'guest of the Mark on this trip. Mr. and Mr. Gordon Good spent Labor Day at Brookings. Ore. where they visited Mrs. Good's par ents the L. Z. Harbins' and also at Smith River with a sister and family. Idle A number of men at camp 6 were thrown out ot wore in Sep tember due to the strike of the O. C. E. Some found a lew days work here and there but many could do nothing but ait at home and draw unemployment compensa tion. George Rogers and Johnnie Smith tried falling timber near Medlord. Some ot the railroad men bumped in at Camp 4. A small crew got several days work at Camp 4 piling brush. Among them was Bob Brown. Mrs. Brown stayed In Klamath Falls. Harold Marks worked a lew days falling timber near Diamond Lake. Elson Chand ler worked a short while at Title lake for Dave Bridge In the potato harvest. The settlement of the strike was Joyful news to all when It finally happened last week. The Fred Peters and Hank Wal drep families moved into Klamath Falls the last of September. Peters and Waldrep will return to their Jobs as falters at Camp S. and their wives plan to start a dress making shop In Klamath Falls.. Pinerhle Crab The Ladies Afternoon Pinochle : O "PUCKER CIRL"-Lovely Virginia Wilton shows the pose that won her the title, "Ameri can Pucker Girl." at a contest in New York. She' a pip with the Lip, aald the Judge. club was entertained Thursday Sep tember 15 in Bly by Mrs. Bob Wimield. The ladies trum ramp made the trip in two cars, the West's and the Peter's. A dessert course of strawberry shortcake pre ceeded a round of pinochle at three tables. Mrs. Bob Brown won the prize for high score. Mrs. Leonard Bright for low and Mrs. George Rogers tor pmocl.ie. Mr. anu .Vrs. T.-.onms Tnomon attended the wedding ol Dorothy El Holt and Jack Jimerson. Saturday September 17 at St. Pauls Episco pal church in Klamath Falls. Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Smith and children and Smith's parents of Lakeview attended the Kingllng Bros, circus In Medford the 17th ol September. Mrs. A. Leatherwood and Mrs. E. Morehead attended the birthday surprise party for "Grandma" Em moo. In Bly last month. She was SO years old. and the mother of Herman "Duteh" Dahms. a well known and long-time employe ot Weyerhaeuser. Return Mr. and Mrs. Jack Baker and 1 sons, and his brother Jim and wile, all former residents of Camp 0. and recently of Jacksonville. Texas re lumed to Oregon last month. They visited in camp fur several days with their sister and families, the 8. L. Hendersons and Eldon Chand ler. The Jack Bauer are now liv ing In Bly, and the Jim Baker have settled In Oakrldge where Mrs. Baker parents, the Walter Hendersons live. Mr. and Mrs. Billy Henderson, well remembered in camp, are Ihe parents ot a baby boy born two week ago, their second child. Mr. and Mrs. H.uik Waldrep and daughter were Sunday dinner gnosis at the George Rogers home Sunday September 34. They rame out to get another load ot house hold goods. On September Wth the Card and Luncheon club which 1 also known a the Dixie club held a regular session at Mamie Smiths.
