CHICAGO, (NEAl Twenty-seven miles south of Chicago's Loop, a new city la about to be born. Surveying has already begun on "Liondom," a mulU-million-dollar project of the International Asso ciation of Lions Clubs. Three to four hundred acres of now-vacant prairie will soon sprout forth homes, shops, office buildings, a parking lot and even a cemetery. ' Silver-haired Melvin Jones, founder and secretary-general of the organization, says the project "isnt any vision or 'dream city." The Lions' nerve center now employs more than 235 persons, many of whom are expected to make their homes in Liondom. Jones has announced that 1000 of the 74M clubs In 36 countries are raising $1000 each to help build the model town. Realizing that America's popula tion Is growing at the rate of a mil Bud, publicity director of the Lions, International conclude that it would be up to employers and groups like their own to provide housing for employes and members.
