Oc tober 13, but the story here la how Edward J. Price narrowly escaped being on the other side. It took navy red tape, a draft board that wouldn't wait and a sweetheart to keep Eddie Price out of Notre Dame, where he took a physics! examination and regis tered in the naval program. Price, you see. is the 189-pound package of fullbacking dynamite carrying the mail for Tulane. No ball-carrier with a major college surpassed him in rushing last fall. He averaged 5.7 yards, and catches passes, too. He started this season by blattng Alabama. Tulane men shudder thinking of what would happen to Henry Frnkas lads were Price wearing Kelly green Instead of olive. Now Mr. and Mrs. Price have a two-year-old daughter. The New Orleans Monday Morn lug quarterback club's annual scholastic trophy was awarded to the serious, curly-haired, blond. 33-year-old Price last season for hav lug the best scholastic marks among Tulane players. He had bet ter than a B average. And the hopea of the green wave are riding on just what kind of an average Eddie Price can roll up against Notre Dame.
