Local wrestling will return to dys ol yore with the return of the Oorgeous One, Oeorge Wagner. Wagner w a a last aeen in the local ring In 1946. At that time he wa just another guy named Joe. the regular run-of-the-mill grunt-and-groaner. Now Wagner has blossomed out. lie's sport ing robes that are breathtak ing, a valet to RED BFRD attend to his personal needs and he's one of the largest drawing cards In wrestling rings all over the nation. As an example. Gorgeous Oeorge last week slid through the ropes In St Louis to draw 18,000 paid cus tomers. Impressario Mack Lillard. In con junction with other Northwest pro moters. Is to be commended for bringing Wagner back to his old stomping grounds. If Wagner, against popular Oeorge Dusette, doesnt bulge the rafters at the armory next week, I'll drop all predictions and go back to selling butter and eggs. Wagner ia popular, bat in a re Tene sort of a way. He hates the erowd. the crowd loathes him. He hates all opponents who try to moss ap his beautiful head of hair and opponents, in turn, would like noth ing better than to spread Wagner, perfume, valet, robes and alL en the armory floor. Lillard is offering Wagner and Dusette at a slight boost in prices because the Beautiful Buffoon re fuses to display his talent at less than one dollar general admission. But. in actuality, there's no up in fire because admission will hit last year's regular rate. However. Wagner Isn't lust a clown. He can wrestle with the best of 'em and his record will bear this out. Hide theKids! While on wrestling, this Mad Russian, whose appearance fits his name, is about the scariest creature I've seen in grappling togs in a leng time. I think he's wasting his time. Be could double for Boris Karloff any time. The only person he didn't scare Wednesday night is Oeorge Dusette who took his sadistic abuse Just long enough to give the crowd a show and then went to work on the Roaring Russian in earnest. Dusette, a clean wrestler and an exponent of a bag of tricks in the ring, specializes on a murderous full nelson with a twist The -twist-is a vicious shake which leaves op ponents luckless enough to fall in to the hold wondering where their head ia or, better still, wondering if they have a head at all. Local Predictions The H and N sports page is, in my opinion, overladen with foot ball predictions, so I'll leave the crystal-balling to Major Hoople and several AP sportswriters, well versed in second-guessing. . The Pels, with Jarrin' Joe Nichols in hard-running form and passes working as they did for a portion of last week's Ashland game, could win by a sizeable score. But the Pelicans have shown only flashes of brilliance this sea son and mediocre play tonight could mean a defeat or at least a close contest.
