Last night Blair Simpson of the Pituburg Diamonds latched onto his 13th straight victory without de feat this season without a loss a the Oems tumbled 10-8 In the wind up of the Pituburg aeries.' The Diamonds won five games of the series and had only one setback. Bob Tate. Pittsburg second base man, was injured on a play at home but this morning was reported to be conscious and resung easily at Klamath Valley hospital. He'll be out of action for several days. Tate was racing home from third base in the sixth Inning when he collided with Ralph Mahler at the plat. Kia face and chin smashed Into the catcher's hard equipment and Tate wat knocked out for sev eral minutes. The squat Pituburg slugger proceeded to double against the eenterfleld wall. Vine DtMaggio followed up with his loth homer of the season to tie the ocore. The next batter. Tony Pillipo. singled, and Bob Haddock slapped homo run over the left field comer to put Pituburg In too lead to stay. la she sixth tram the Diamonds I got to Johnny Lopeman for three hM and a walk, onmhined with two error, and scored four times more. The Oems made an attempt to pull the game out la the eighth. Trailing 10-6 with two out, the bases were tilled on walks and Ed Whitney Juggled Bob Casseuls grounder to let one run In. then threw wild at third base for another error and two Bore scores crossed. Pinky Hesse doubled to ocore CasseJli and make the score 10-B. Reese 's grounder was Juggled and Hesse was thrown out trying to score.
