C Aug. 3 Two city firemen early Tuesday rescued 21-year-old man trora ine perilous rocky perch he had oc cupied In the middle of the sa-triing broad river (or 11 hours. The firemen brought Robert Mon roe Lee to safety In a fire depart ment outboard motor ttftcr s risky quarter of mile round-Urp run. A navy blimp, sent from Savan nah, Oa, hovered nearby, hampered by rolling fog. Also at hand, but taking no part In Lees rescue, was helicopter which had been sent by truck from Pope Field, N. C. Lee had been marooned on the rock since early Monday night when he and companion were trapped by rampaging flood wuters released In part from a power dam 10 miles upstream. Lee and his companion. 2i-year-old James Dent, were trapped by ruing waters as they fished on a dock about "5 yards from the bank. Dent made his way to safety soon after the pair were marooned, but Lee unable to swim was forced to remain. Oil Contract Meet Slated SALT LAKE CTrr. Aug. 3 A contract conciliation meeting to be attended by .representatives of the CIO Oil Workers International union and officials of Wasatch Oil company has been set for Thursday. The unions contract with the firm expired Monday, but workers re mained on the job pending further efforts to reach an agreement. The Utah labor relations board will conduct the meeting at the capital. Local Union President Olen Wett ateln said a strike vote was set for last week but was postponed pend ing further efforts to reach a settle ment. A vote was taken In Spokane but results were not announced. Canyonvilla sher iffs deputy, reported this morning that a young looking man clad in new clothes masked with a red handkerchief and carrying a gun confronted the two women in the cafe at I0.2S p. m. Monday. The women, Mrs. Sarah Nimmo, wife of the cafe and motel owner, and co-owner Margaret Bisbrova acreamed loudly and attempted to use a small gas pencil on trie in truder. The combination proved too much for the would be bandit and he tied the scene in a 1837 model coupe. Owner Everett Nimmo said be gave chase but lost the fleeing bandit Ji the darkness. No further meetings are scheduled between packers and fishermen. . The strike, which began last month, has meant little so liir. since the run of salmon has been light.
