Melancholy and sadness reigns as merchants stand in their doorways and watch the blade of the big bulldozer cut 2 feet off their lovely mudholes. Sighs of regret can be heard as they realize that the little town has grown up and they will never AGAIN see "No Hunting or Fishing" signs stuck in the muddy banks of the little lakes in front of their places of business. And when they think of Tulelake being just like other towns with nice, paved streets and beautifully arched light posts, their eyes fill with tears but their hearts fill with pride, because they know that while Main street is being made modern, they still have Modoc street where the YUKON TAVERN and the POSTOFFICE are. And after all, they all expect to spend most of their time there anyway either sitting in their blinds shooting ducks or fishing from the sidewalks, because they know they can just step into the YUKON'S clean, homelike atmosphere for a cool, refreshing DRINK or one of those famous BAKED HAM SANDWICHES . . . the place where hunters and fishermen are always welcome, for the Coll of the YUKON is "Come As Roycroft Is Guest Speaker TULELAKE, July 2-Lyun Hoy rrnft.
