It Is coming Into substantial use in i the Klamath basin this year. Practicability of this form of fer tiliser started to be recognized here only last year although It had been Introduced some time ago and it la being quite widely used in other farming areas. An advantage of the liquid form is that It goes to work as soon as applied, becoming absorbed by the I sod with the irrigation water. An other advantage Is that it ran be applied after plants are too big tor cultivation and application of pow dered fertilizer. For the best results mix powder or dry fertilizer with potato seed at planting. With first irrigation apply liquid fertilizer and make the final application with liquid about 50 days from harvest which will be about August i. for some acreages this year. The liquid fertilizer Is dripped I from a barrel with spigot control I Into the irrigation water at the headgate. Cost of this fertilization method is approximately 900 pounds of dry substance per acre at seeding at 130 per acre, with liquid applications around M per four gallons per acre or eight gallons per season for the two applications at (13 per acre. If the starting application of dry ! material Is eliminated, potency of the liquid applications should be increased. Plans for applying sulphur In liquid form next year are being made now. Thia has not been tried here but Is expected to be more popular titan dry sulphur applica tions. , 1 : W$l Mi STOCK SHOW COMING Plans got under way for the 14th annual Klamath County Junior Livestock show, to be held of the fairgrounds August 28, 29 and 30, for 4 H and FFA members, with the appointment of top committee members for Rotory club which spon sors the event.
