July 14 0V-The civil aeronautics administration to day suspended the opera tin rights of Strato Freight, Inc. It operated the plane In which S3 persons were killed in Puerto Rico last month. CAA Administrator D. W. Rentsel accused the company of operating faulty equipment. He also assert ed that It had repeatedly violated safety regulations. ' Rentsel suspended the operating rights under his emergency powers. At tne same time, he filed a formal petition with the civil aeronautics board asking that Strato Freight's flying authority be permanently revoked. A C-46 operated by Strato Freight dove Into the sea off San Juan. Puerto Rico. June 7, shortly after a takeoff from Newark. N. J, via Miami. There were. 81 persons aboard. Twenty-eight were rescued. The plane was being flown under charter to a travel agency. Rentsel said in his petition to the CAB that an Inquiry disclosed the plane was flown June ( from Newark to Miami with a cable flap which coordinates landing and takeoff controls! -in a frayed and weakened condition. He said the flap was broken when the ship bopped to San Juan from Miami to pick up Its big passenger load there. In response to Inquiries, CAA of ficials said it had not been de termined whether repairs were made In San Juan. The ship is still at the bottom of the sea. Efforts will be made to raise It for further Investigation. Morse Rebels Over Naming Of Dulles WASHINGTON. July H iAy-A proposal to place New York's fresh man senator, John Foster Dr"es, on the senate foreign relations eom .mittee kicked up a political storm In republican ranks today. In the senate, for ex ample, mora than W senators dem ocrats and republicans have signed a petition urging action on a resolu tion directing the president to cut appropriations for the current fiscal year by from five to 10 per rent.
