Miule wu furnished by the local orcheetra, assisted by the Oaylord brother ot Tustin. Calif. Supper vai aerved later in the evening. The picnic dinner on the Fourth et July wa a potluck affair. Folki from the surrounding country came with filled banket and boxes. Foot race, a tug o' war and other game and contest made the picnic an enjoyable affair. Donald Koenlg of Milwairale, Ore. I spending his vacation here and doing some work on farm south ot town. R. D. Cork of Seattle, Wash., was renewing old acquaintances here last week. He was cashier ot trie Paisley First National bank at one time, and this was hi first trip back since he left 3 year ago. Mrs. Cork accompanied him on the trip. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Marsters and sons of Alturas, Calif, visited relatives and friends here Monday Mrs. Lydla Smith and son. Mark Partln, of New Pine Creek and Mrs. Lorain Lynch of Lakevirw visited Mr. Rosa Tucker Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Wallace and children of Sweet Home are visit ing Mrs. Wallace's father, Clarence Wind am, and family. Mrs. Belle Cumer returned from Klamath Fall last week. Mr. and Mr. Ed Vernon and chil dren of Klamath Falls spent Sun day here with relative. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Pike spent the Fourth of July at Dairy creek with their son, George, and farm JJ. Mrs. Davis and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Reed of Valley Fall attended the picnic here Monday. Mr. and Mrs. P. W. Hotchkiss and Carolea Gray, and Mrs. Sadie Cooper of Lakevlew attended the dance Saturday night. Mr and Mrs. Jack Barker of Lakevlew spent the Fourth of July bere. Mr. and Mrs. Le Duncan and granddaughter. Sallle Elder, of Sil ver Lake attended the picnic too. Mr. and Mr. Glen Mahan of Martinet, Calif, visited Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. John Branch. The two women are sisters. . Mr. and Mrs K Connor and email daughter from San Francisco. Calif, are visiting at the home of her mother, Mrs. Florence Murphy. Mrs. Connor Is the former Nellie Murphy. Linda, left the first ot the week for a short vacation. They plan to visit Mrs. Ida Ellis, mother of Otto Ellis, at Roseburg. and then go north to visit relative and friend In Salem and Portland. The Jolly Nine Pinochle club met at the home of Mrs. Jerry Rajnus for a regular meeting Wed nesday, June 33. Members and guest present were Mrs. Chester Stonecvpher. Mrs. P. O. Wilson. Mrs Fred Anderson, Mrs. Everett Jones, Mrs John James, Mrs. Frank Victorln. Mrs. Emil Tolrll. Mrs. John Reber and Mrs. Bill Rajnus. Mrs. Everett Jones was aaarded high prire. Mrs. P. G. Wilson, second, and Mrs. Enul Tofeu, low. Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Mase ot Colusa, Calif, were recent visitors at the Oeorge Retteralh home. H. J. Kiuskern of Portland re turned to his home after a week's vacation spent at the homes of his daughter. Mrs. P. O. Wilson, and his aon, Harold Kni&kern. James Ottoman Jr. and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Rajnus returned home Friday evening. The family was at the bedside of James Ottoman Sr. who was admitted to Su Vincent s I hospital In San Francisco a week ago Thursday. Last Thursday he wa operated on for a brain tumor, but the tumor wa not located and he still remains in a critical con dition. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Spolek left Friday morning for a short vacation at Crescent City. Mr. and Mrs. K. C. Wilson left the latter part of last week for a short vacation at East lake. They expected to Join Mr. and Mrs Ed gar Anderson of Portland at the lake.' John Peart of Los Angeles and Jack Peart of Grants Pass were recent visitors at the Chester I Stonecypher home. John Peart was a former homesteader In the Tule lake area, and an uncle of Mrs. Stonecypher. The Bohemian Ladles Social club Mrs, Marx Hridza. Mrs. Elisabeth Pay gar for Us regular meeting Sunday. John, who was graduated fium Oregon State a a civil engUieer, has accepted the position of city engineer at Astoria. Mr. and Mrs. Francis Street re cently purchased a home In the West Malin district. The house ts now occupied by the Paul Kruger family which plans to build in the near future. Mrs Marie Vasek ot Los Angeles, who was a recent visitor at the Ben Pickett home, left the tint of the week for Kansas, where she expects to visit friends and rela tive lor several weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Alton Oilman of St. Cloud. Minn, arrived the first of the week for an extended visit with Mr. and Mrs P. O. Wilson. Mrs. Oilman and Mrs. Wilson were girlhood friends, and this was their first visit in 23 fears The Malm Squire Dancing club met Wednesday evening. June 39. at the old community hall with over 50 members and guests pres ent. The use of this building has been donated the club through the courtesy of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Kshtia. and dance will be held every two weeks. From the map an estimate ot repay ment ability for the area will ue made on cost of construction to bring water to the valley. Another U3UH Held party has resumed the topographic survey on Sprague river to assist ill determin ing possible reservoir sues and stream regulations for flood control and Irrigation supply. Progress on this survey is alow 1 because much of th area is covered by timber and under heavy brush. but It Is going along satisfactorily, and the bureau hopes to complete th topography on the lower part of the Sprague sometime this fall.
