Ronald Phair Takes Lease
On Mallory's "Y" Market
Ronald Phair. Klamath county
rancher has taken a five-year leae
on Mallory's Y market at the Mrr-rlll-Lakevtew
Junction and has
bout lit all the stock.
Phair has been a resident of tills
county fur mure than su years,
farming in the Bonansa and Malm
areas, owiuna. leasing and rentniR
spud land In those locations. He
had considerable grocery experience
in Portland and Seattle before he
came here. Phair now resides at
Hat Madison with his wife and
five rhlkiren.
Plans to ;earranae shrives and
stock, build up the hardware de
partment, enlarge the dairy prod
ucts department, build partitions
and make other Improvements are
already under way at the market,
There will be no chautrs made
In the present personnel, Phair said.
The lease was effective as of June
21, but paper work on the trans
action was not completed until the
end of June. It Includes only the
market and outdoor vegetable stand.
The furniture store, tavern. garae
and otl station will be operated ap-
arately as always.
Harold Mallory, owner of the
property, started his business with a
grocery store at the site In 1941.
He added the garage, frosen food
lockers, tavern and service station.
He pulled out the lockers and put
the furniture department In that
space. There are eight acres of Isnd
at the highway division belonging
to raanury.
He has additional property across
the road where he la building a
motel. Mallory plans to finish the
motel cabins now that he Is out of
the market. He plans to operate the
furniture store himself and run his
ranch at Keno springs, besides
hauling vegetables for the outdoor
green-grocery department Jusl add
ed to the market. The motel will be
offered for lease when It la com
pleted, Mallory said.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Olllette of Rose
burg have a five-vear lease on the
oil station. Dick Howard will con
tinue to operate the meat depart
ment of the market.
Christine Williams, former assist
ant manager of the market, will stay
on w ith Mallory doing the book work
for his various ventures.
