The charges came from John Burden, clackamaa county sani tarian, who blamed the bureau of laud management tor the logging on the south fork of the river. Daniel L. Ooldy, regional admin istrator of the bureau of land man agement, asserted the chargea were groundless. He said logging there was proceeding according to plan, and that It helped, rather Utan harmed, the watershed. Ooldy added that the selective logging and scattered cuttings made there would promote a better cover ot young trees and provided a more vigorous root growth to retain water. He said this method waa employed In the Seattle watershed.
