Pace eicht HERALD AND NEWS, KLAMATH FALLS, OREGON FRIDAY, JUNE 11, 1948 CHURCH NEWS Scientist Services Planned "Ood Uie Preserver of Man" will be the topic of the lesson-sermon t the regular morning divine wor ship at Pint Church of Christ, Scientist, 10th and Washington, this Sunday. The Oolden text will be "The Lord bless thee and keep thee: the Lord make his face to shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: the Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace," (Num. 6:24 26. Classes for all ages are offered In Sunday school which is held at tho same hour as the church service, 11 a. m. Sunday school classes meet downstairs in the church. A regular Wednesday evening meeting is held each week at 8 p. al and a reading room maintained at 1023 Main. Among citations comprising the lesson-sermon are, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." (Matt. 6:33). From the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, will be. "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." Final Sermon Due Sunday "Living Above Your Circum stances" will be the seventh and concluding message in a series of sermons based on the theme, "Vic torious Living," presented by Rev. Victor A. Schulze, pastor of the Zion Lutheran church, 11th and High. The morning worship service be gins at 11 o'clock. At the close of the morning service a door collec tion will be taken for the relief of the people, particularly the members of the Lutheran congregation, the Lutheran pastor and family and parish worker who lost all of their belongings In the Van port flood disaster. Sunday school and Bible class meet at the regular time, 0:45 a. m. Calvary Baptist Slates BiLle School Vacation Bible school will open Monday morning. June 14. at the Calvary Baptist church. East Muin at Garden, at 9:30. Every boy and girl between the ages of 4 through 16 Is welcome, regardless of faith or affiliation. Teachers To Give Service The teaching staff of the daily vacation Bible school now in session at the Bible Baptist church, will present the evening program and service at the church on Sundav evening, 8 o'clock. The Bible school girls' choir, a group of 30 girls, will present special music for the eve ning. Lester Perry, a native of Bend and a recent resident of this city, will bring the evening message. Per ry has just finished his second year at Powellhurst Bible institute ana will attend the Bible Institute of Los Angeles this fall. Perry's par ents and family reside. in Klamath Falls. The Bible school has enjoyed an increased attendance each day. with 207 present on Wednesday and 217 registered. The school convenes at 8:55 each morning and is dismissed at 11:50 a. m. Children of the south suburban area are particularly in vited to attend this school. Pastor Keith P. Fields will con tinue the study of the Book of I John at the morning worship ser vice. The choir will sing special music. The public Is Invited. Mitchelmore Returns From Seattle Meet Peace Memorial Presbyterian church, 4431 S. 6th, will have reg ular service this Sunday, with Pastor and Mrs. Hugh T. Mitchel more having returned from the general assembly of the church held In Seattle, Wash, The sermon will be given at 11 a. m. with the chorus choir lead ing the music under direction of Mrs. Mitchelmore, director and or ganist. Vacation Bible school of Peace Memorial Is In session and will continue through the coming week. New pupils will be welcome. Classes are provided tor age groups from 4 to 14 years. Department leaders are Mrs. Thelma Janssen. Mrs. Lloyd Seeley, Mrs. Dorothy Walker, Mrs. L. L. Parker and Mrs. C. P. Peyton with A. C. Olson, superintendent. First Presbyterian To Open Bible School Monday Daily Vacation Bible school brRliu at the Pirst Presbyterian church at a a.m. Monday and children of all ages are welcome. The beginners department, made up of pre-school children, will study "How Bible Children Lived." The primary de partment will have "Bible Boats" as their course of study. The Junior department will compare "Bible Homes and Homes Today." The In termediate department will choose its subject and will also be given the experience of being helpers throughout the school. There will oe a prize to the child who brings the most new pupils who attend regularly throughout the session. There Is no charge for the school, but a dally offering will be taken to defray expenses. Sunday evening. June 27. at 8 o'clock, school will officially end with closing ex ercises and children's day program. The afternoon of Saturday, June 36. a picnic will be held for the whole school. The Sunday service at the First Presbyterian church will be con ducted by Rev. Clrorge M. Shuinan, from Ashland. His sermon topic will be "The Church In Action." Mrs. Earl Sheridan will slug a contralto solo. There will be no Westminster fellowship or Junior Church club this week. The Women's association will hold a picnic Thursday at 1 p.m. at Pine Grove at the home of Mrs. A. M. Collier.
