Grains On Downgrade Again
CHICAGO, June 5 WV-Although price changes In grains were not
targe today, the market showed an easier undertone. This was parlicu
' laxly true In wheat as the May contract got down around tt.28 a bushel
at times. Some traders have estimated 3.28 wlU be the government
' support price here.
peed grains did somewhat better than wheat with prices mixed
most of the session.
' Major reason for the easiness in wheat, despite nearness of this

from America's global aid program.

Upper Columbia river basin

damage was estimated at more than

but scores of families were evacu

Rose Festival
In Balance
PORTLAND, Ore.. June I (Pi
There still Is a possibility Portland's
Rose Festival may be cancelled be
cause of the floods.
The Festival association promised
the city council yesterday to call
off the five-day fete, scheduled to
start June . If a new flood crisis
comes along.
This came after the council order
ed the festival's floral parade moved
to the southeast district of the city.
It will put the parade out of the
downtown section for the first time
in history.
Police said their forces, taxed by
the flood situation, could not cope
with a parade downtown, where
traffic congestion is heavy.
he council authorised this only by
a 3-2 vole. Mayor Earl Riley opposed
staging the festival at all, and Com
missioner V. A. Bowes wanted to
cancel the parade.
Meanwhile organisations began
dropping out of the fete. Vancouver.
Wash., and two Portland organisa
tions said they would not enter
floats. They said money that would
have been used for the floats will
be used for flood relief.
