Although write-ins for that nomi
nation have not been counted, a
perusal of several precinct tally
sheets shows that some write-in

Sale of the Klamath Machine and
Locomotive Works, located on Spring
street, has been completed with the
recording of a deed transferring
ownership of the plant to a group
of San Francisco businessmen who
have formed an organization known
as "Civic Associates."
Revenue stamps on the document
indicated a consideration of about
$114,000.
The new owners have lortnea a
Delaware corporation and the new
name of the plant will be Klamath
Machine and Locomotive Works,
Inc. New manager Is Ray Williams,
formerly of Salinas. Calif., and
William Whelan la assistant man
ager. In 1930 the plant, then known as
Klamath Iron Works, was pur
chased by the Oerlinger family of
Dallas from Walter Beane, and
through the years since that time
It has become a family holding with
exceptions of interests owned by
Homer Ellis and Eugene Hooker,
both of Klamath Falls.
Ellis said that he and Hooker
planned to remain in Klamath Falls
but were no longer connected with
the plant which has been entirely
taken over by the new owners.
The deed conveying the property
to the San Francisco group is signed
by members of the Gerlinger family
as well as Hooker and Ellis.

Portland city offices will go on day
light saving time Monday midnight.
It is mandatory only for city em
ployes and docks under the city's
control such as those in front of
Jewelry stores under the ordinance
passed by the council today.
Portland merchants were to meet
tomght to decide whether they
would go along with the fast time.
Action here followed adoption of
daylight saving time in Seattle and
several other Washington cities.
Woman Held
For Disorderly
Colleen Kay Carter. 24. of 407 N.
9th. was booked at the county Jail
Wednesday morning on charges of
drunk and disorderly conduct after
she was brought in from the Weed
Ashland junction by Kaler's ambu
lance. The ambulance answered a call in
dicating a hit-run accident and
found the young woman on the
ground beside the highway. She was
taken to Hillside hospital for treat
ment but is reported to have raised
a ruckus and refused to stay.
Whereupon she was arrested by
state police and taken to Jail.
Also booked at the county lockup
Tuesday night was Frank Thomas
Reilly, 39. on a charge of drunk
driving. He was arrested on highway
64 by state police.

Dog Lake Camp
Modoc Council. Boy Scouts of
America, will hold their annual
rendezvous at Dog lake, in Lake
county. May 29-30-31 this year it
was announced today.
School busses will be used to
transport those troops who have no

US Lifts Ban
On Shipping
WASHINGTON. May 27 i The
United States Wednesday partly
lifted a virtual ban on exports of
industrial goods to Soviet -dominated
Eastern Europe by approving a
M .890.000 shipment to Finland.
Secretary of Commerce Sawyer
announced the action but gave no
explanation.
He said he has approved (ranting
licenses for shipment of power gen
erator pans, machine tools, steel
products and other materials.
He added he expects to (rant
further approvals "in the near
future."
