that nine of the 13 republican con
vention rielcKaten elected In Oregon

ination. In the primary. Stassen was de
feated In the popular vote by Oov
ernor Thomaa E. Dewey of New
York.
Under Oretcon law. the 11 dele
Rates must support Dewey for the
nomination as Ion as the New York

pointed out to a news conference.
But If Dewey falls to win the
nomination, Stassen said, the nine
then are expected to support Stas
sen. The former Minnesota governor
made public a telctcram he sent to
Robert A. Elliott of Portland, chosen
as a deleiiate at large, advising El
liott and ottier Stassen supporters
to comply with the primary results
and support Dewey "so long as he
Is In the race."
Aides to Stassen said that Ted
Gamble, who was national director
of the war bond drives, will be ap
pointed Stassen'a convention man
ager. A formal announcement Is ex
pected to be marie soon.
Portland Milk
Supply Sufficient
PORTLAND, May 28 m The
state milk control board has re
ported that for the first time since
before the war the Portland area
has enough, grade A milk.
The board said no new applica
tions for quotas can be considered
before August. Orade A butterfat
supply exceeded demand by about
10 per cent In April. The city uses
about 17.000 pounds of butterfat
dally.
Orade B. milk Is due to be banned
from the Portland supply after
July 1.
