Whytal and the four hos tesses. VFW Auxiliary A special meeting of the auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreiro Wars was . held m the library cluoroom Tues ; day evening. May 18, with Patricia Henry presiding. Malin and Merrill auxiliaries attended, and Freda Pet erson, department president of Ore gon, gave an interesting talk and complimented the auxiliary on its drill work and the work of the new officers. Melba Bums of Malin. president of district 13. which Includes Kla math Falls, also spoke, as did Mary Schultz, president of district 7, which includes Medford. These three guests were presented with corsages in recognition of their positions. Plans were made for the encamp ment at Pendleton on June 15 which will be attended by five members from Klamath Falls. , Refreshments were served later tn the evening from a table covered with lace and centered with a swan vase of sweet peas and maidenhair fern. Gladys Brown and Caroline Williams presided at the coffee service. Qualified Women of Reames Golf and Country club qualified for the spring handicap at their gathering Friday, May 21. Play was followed by lunch eon and cards. Guests were Mrs. Louis Serruys and Mrs. William DeCew. Winners in bridge last week were Mrs. Ralph Macartney, Mrs. How ard Perrin, Mrs. C. A. Lundy and Mrs. Charles Rugh. Those who have not yet done so will have until Wednesday to qualify for the handi cap. m June 4 Is the date set for a re cital to be given bv voice and piano pupils of Mrs. Don ,J. Zumwalt. The circles of the Woman's Society of Christian Service of the First Methodist church met Thursday afternoon. May 13, for dessert and business meetings. Mrs. Stanley Bechtle was hostess to Esther circle, assisted by Mrs. Cecil Kollenborn. Mrs. Dexter Elliott, chairman, conducted the business meeting, and Mrs. S. P. Jones led the devotions, while the lesson on "The Need of Prayer" was given by Rhoda Ann Brown. Twenty-two members attended. ' Bride-Elect Girls' Club Initiation of new members is planned for June 3 by the Alpha Omega Theta Rho girls club. No. 48, of Merrill. A comparatively new group, the club was Instituted February 14. Officers are Luella Davis, worthy president: Joan Drager, vice presi dent: Laura Lou Hill, secretary: Eleanor Hunnicutt. treasurer; Lois Lea Kandra. financial secretary. Appointive offices are held by Mrs. Virginia Davis.
