A comparison of records shows that athletes in the Drake relays at Des Moines, la., would have taken 10 of the 18 major events from com petitors in the Penn relays here. In addition, the Middle and Southwest boys were tops in six of the eight events in which Penn relay competitors bettered the marks set in the same events at Des Moines. Sports Center For Merrill Held Certain Development of a first-class rec reation and sports center at Merrill on property adjoining the high school building is now assured. Five organizations - Odd Fellows. Moose. Veterans of Foreign . Wars. American Legion and the fire de partment are sponsors of the proj ect, which will cost about $6000. The plans call for a lighted lay out, with Softball, baseball and foot ball fields, and a unique pivoting bleacher system. Under this plan, bleachers will be anchored near the first and third base points on the baseball field. When a football game is on. the bleachers can be swung across the baseball field and set up parallel to the side of the football field. Principal Harold Hendrickson of the schools is chairman of the gen eral committee in charge of the project. The board meets every Tues day evening, and the public is in vited to attend.
