Hanford Director Gets New Post RICHLAND, Wash.. April 22 (Pi D. H. Lauder, manager of the Han ford Atomic Works since 1946, has been assigned a new Job with the General Electric company, a spokes man said today. Lauder will be district enslneer in the Atlantic district of the G. E. apparatus deportment. The announcement came from R C. Mulr, general manager of the new O. E. nucleonics department, with headquarters here. Creation of the new department eliminated the office of the Hanford Work manager. .Lauder had been mana ger of the Hanford Works since September, 1946, when General Electric took over operation of the Plutonium production plant. April 22 (VP) AFL workers in all Aluminum Com pany of America plants have voted to strike if necessary to gain wage demands, the local council president said today. Lloyd Hinds, president of the Vancouver Aluminum Trades coun cil, said plants Involved were here and at Massena. N. Y.; East St. Louis, 111.: Lafayette. Ind.. and Crassona. Pa. He said this might not be the total number but he had no further details. The Vancouver membership ap proved a strike by a 10 to 1 mar gin, he said. This morning he re ceived a telegram from Business Agent Henry Olsen. attending i meeting of the International Coun cil of Aluminum Workers at Louis ville, Ky.. saying workers at all AFL-manned Alcoa plants had ap proved strike action to be taken if contract agreement is not reached.
