The founder of the Business and Professional Women's club reall7l there was a group of women In Klamath Falls having common in terests and problems needed a club wherein they could meet for enjoy ment and profit along lines carried out in the National Business and Professional Women's club which had been organised In 1919. Under the guidance of Lyle Kimball, this new club was formed. A group of five met and made plans for organising, and after con tacting some 20 or more girls and women ftlllnr business positions In this community, the organization was completed. At first meetings were held in various homes, but soon the group gravitated toward what was then the social center of town, the White Pelican hotel. Many happy eve nings were snent in the charming un room of the White Pelican. The club later met In the old chamber j ot commerce rooms, located under what is now LaPolnte's store, later j met in the Library clubroom. and moved to the Willnrd hotel lor din ner meetings in 1935. Develooment and growth of the organisation was followed as each past president gave highlights of events hannening durins her club year as president A letter from Mrs. Prances Beatty Rackner. the club's first president, now residing In Cottaee Drove, was read. Also sending greetings were Leda Parker and Bernlce Griffin Albertson. On disulay was the hlstorv album presented to the clnb bv Bob Jones of Miller's studio. Data for the al bum has been compiled by Mrs. Hnrl Conrad!, club historian. Dinner music was presented by the Sacred Heart Cecillan string en- aemble. Members of the ensemble present were Phillip Clark. Janice Larson. Ellen Murphy. Harriet Lar- enlk. Julie Hamdon. Cecile vanden berg. Jeanette Kmlinger. Peggy Plunkett. with Patricia Clark, ac companist. Mrs. Irene Foster enter tained with some favorite poems and a fairy story. The room was beautifully deco rated with daffodils and camellias sent to the club bv Mrs. Coffer of Portland. May Phtnnev. club pro gram coordinator, was In charge of the program and decorations. The next club meeting la being planned for April 19. at which time senior girls of Klamath countv will be entertained at a 7:30 dessert . "SPIRAL BEAN" " A vegetable cariosity of the desert Is the "screw bean," a product of the mesqulte bush.
