April 7 Wv-Stocks Kcept for some favored rails, were . subject to selling pressure in to- day s market. Although offerings In most esses were fairly well absorbed, a wide list of narrow declines was in evidence near the close. Transfers ran around 1.200,000 shares. , New highs were attained by , Nickel Plate Common. Canadian Pacific, Union Pacific, Shell Union Oil and Superior OH of California. International Paper climbed in re sponse to pleasing earnings figures. Other Issues holding gains Includ ed Pennsylvania Railroad. New York Central, Allied Chemical. Pen ney and Kennecott Slipping to low er levels were Goodyear. General Motors, Youngstown Sheet, West inghouse Electric Johns Mnnville, Twentieth Century-Fox and Philip Morris. Selected railroad bonds improved. Wheat at Chicago closed 4 a cent to IS cents a bushel higher, corn unchanged to up S-i and oats ahead to 1H.
