plotting aggressive warfare.
All 12 pleaded innocent last No
vember 17 to a SO-page war crimes
Indictment. It accussed them spe
cifically of plotting aggressive war
fare, plundering peaceful countries
and exploiting slave labor.
The trial started December 8.

Capt. James E. McLaughlin, pilot of
the Ill-fated army reserve plane
which crashed Friday night on Pil
chuck peak, was a veteran pilot with
many months of wartime service.
He served 20 months in the Asiatic
Pacific theater where he flew 186
combat missions In P-38. P-39 and
P-47 fighter craft. His decorations
Include the Distinguished Flying
Cross the Air Medal with two clust
ers and a Presidential Unit Citation.
He was bom In Nashville, Tenn., 29
years ago where his mother pow re
sides. His wife. Mary and one child
