C, April 10, are rapidly taking shape. Oregon will have a representation of delegates from the various chap ters of the state. President Qeneral Mrs. Roscoe O'Byrne of the NSDAR has re turned from a tour to attend state DAR conferences in nine states. In addressing these meetings Mrs. O'Byrne stresses national defense and universal military training. 8he says: "These are days when all must be defense minded, reallrlng oura society's Interpretation of the term 'National Defense' as meaning pre paredness for protection and secur ity, and not for aggression. Every one Is seeking peace, but we must keep the balance manifested In the Great Beal of the V. S. the IS leaves of the Olive Branch in the right claw of our 'Eagle.' the symbol of peace, and the 13 arrows In the left, the symbol of preparedness. Peace and preparedness form the perfect bal ance." Delegates to the state conference of Oregon Daughters from Eulalona chapter will report at the regular meeting to be held Monday evening. April 5, at 8 o'clock, at the Presby terian church, with Mrs. William Owslev hostess. The Oregon confer ence "began March 11, at Salem. Delegates who represented Eulalona chapter included Eva Burkholier. chapter vice regent; Mrs. William D. Foster, registrar and Mrs. Bert C. Thomas, past regent. A paper prepared by Eliiabeth Waldron will be read during the program hour. The subject wiU be Indians of the Southwest, mostly Navajo. Mrs. Hugh T. Mitchelmore, chapter regent, extends a cordial in vitation to all members and visiting members to attend the meeting.
