Barbershop quartet singing, defi nitely entertaining in a relaxed style, will be demonstrated by some of the finest and most popular quar tets In the west. Included in visit ing quartet will be the Golden Statesmen of San Francisco, the Bonanza Four of Reno and the Os wego Troubadors. Klamath Falls will be represented by the chorus ot 90 voices and two quartets. total of 10 different quartets will participate. Tickets are available Saturday and may be purchased from mem bers of the Klamath Falls chorus. Today It has swept across the country from coast to coast and hundreds of chapters have sprung up In almost every state in the union and Canada. This last course is a requirement for all boys who sign up for radio, sheet metal or machine shop, providing they have not already taken mechanical draw ing. Sophomore and Junior girls start ed filling out petitions for Pep Pep per membership today. As soon as all the petitions are filled out the Junior members of the club will vote on the new members, on a basis ot scholarship (must be 2.1), character, personality, appearance and such. April 2 i.-tl Four n-ure mines were reported today to be periling shipping off the Wash ington Oregon - British Columbia coast, one of the drifting wartime explosives was destroyed yesterday, the coast guard said. The new reports indicated no let down from the month of March when 3S mines were reported. Six teen were destroyed. Three of the four mines are being sought by the cutter McLauc out ol Aberdeen. One was reported 12 miles southwest of Cape Alva, about 16 miles south ol Cape Flattery: an other four miles west of Cape Alva and two mile south of Umatilla lightship: and the third drifting s.ven miles south nf Destruction island. The fourth. reiKiitrd drifting 40 miles west of Portland point on Vancouver island, was said to be too tar out for a culler to locate it. The report was relayed to Canadian authorities. Rivers iD.-S.C.l. predicted todav that a bill to repeal federal oleo margarine taxes will be on the hcuse calendar by nightfall. He told reporters that when the house adjourned yesterday 199 mem bers had signed a petition to pry the bill out of the house agricul ture committee. The petition must be signed by 218 to compel house action. "We will get it out today." Rivers said. "We only need 19 more names.' The legislation, sponsored by Rivers, would repeal the quarter cent a pound tax on uncolored mar garine and the 10-cent per pound tax on colored.
