March 30 MV-Leading stocks took a turn on the re covery side of today's market despite lot of handicaps. Favorites showed gains of frac tions to 2 points near the close. Amusements came to life in good advances. Transfers ran around 1.000,000 shares against 760.000 the day before. Brokers sUU contended that opera tions were "more or less normal" in the face of occasional outbursts of violence In the Wall Street strike and heavy picketing of the ex change. . American Tobacco common ana "B" rallied after recent weakness. Attracting bids were Paramount Pictures, Loews', O. S. Steel. Bethle h.m ki.i Goodrich. Twenty-two Filipinos were killed Saturday on Com-gtdor when they entered a sealed tunnel and touched oft a Japanese booby trap. They were members of a Philip pines army bomb disposal unit. Sixteen Philippine soldiers and six civilian laborers were killed none of whom had been authorized to enter the sealed tunnel In which the Saturday blasts occurred. Brig. Gen. Callxto Duque announced. One Injured soldier was rescued. The tunnel, used as a shelter by U. S. naval personnel in early days of the war. was sealed alter Amer icans recaptured Curregldor In 1945.
