City To Aid In Graveling In the hope of alleviating much of the dirt and mud carried by au tomobiles from alleyways to main stieets, city officials have worked out a means of assisting property owners with gravelling alleys. Under the Bancroft law. the city has no funds to finance improv ing alleys. City councilmen. how. ever, have made arrangements for property owners to gravel alleys at a reduced cost. The plow is a tractor equipped with a snow scoop and was purchased by the city about two weeks ago. City Engineer E. A. Thomas ex plained that the siw scoop is something new for the street de pcrtment and going was, slow while the driver got used o tne macnine. It is proving to be satisfactory, he added. The tractor is also equipped with mowing attachment for summer work to replace the snow scoop.
