"Pat" and "Brad" are back to gether again. Pat McCollum and Howard Bradbury are working to gether in the garage business Mc Collum has been carrying on for the past year. The shop is at the F.-ed Stukel place. Guy Barton was a business visi toi In Merrill this week. Darrell King and Van Holden have purchased the property owned bv Mrs. George Offield where their Merrill Billiards was located. The building was destroyed by fire a few months ago and King and Holden plan to rebuild at the same location. Mr. and Mrs. Hilary Winebarger are remodeling their ranch home mar here. March 11 The regular monthly meeting of the Civic Improvement club was held on Friday afternoon in the club house, with the president. Mr. W B. Hescock. in the chair, and with Mrs. Raymond S. Looslry act ing as secretary pro tem In the ab sence of the secretary, Mrs. OSaf Carpenter. Plans were made during the busi ness session for a card party to be sKnsored by the club In the club house on Saturday evening. March 13. at 8 o'clock. Pinochle, bridge, gin rummy and bingo will be played, each member being requested to bring some small article to be given a- Individual prires In bingo. Mrs. Earl Jackson and Mrs. Joanna Tay Ur were named by the president as general chairmen in charge of the affair. Mrs. Jackson, assisted by Mrs. Frank Denton and Mrs. Elmer Zumbrun. to be in charge of re freshments and serving, and Mrs. Taylor to make arrangements for the card playing. She will choose hei assistants later. Mrs. William Pace was appointed to make posters advertising the card party. An ad mission pnee of 50 cents per person ill be charged, and will Include cards and refreshments. Proceeds will go to the club treasury. At the conclusion of the business n'tetlng. the pupils of the third grade of the Fort Klamath school pisented demonstrations of their practical work in school as well as the social activities they enjoy. The entertainment was given under the supervision of Mrs. Frank Strahan. local grade school teacher. Hostesses of the afternoon were Mrs. Harry Orem and Mrs. Elmer Zumbrun. who served refreshments following the meeting at cleverly decorated tables carrying out the Si Patrick Day motif in refresh ments and accessories. Mrs. Nichols is making her home with her daugh ter. Mrs. F. L. Abbott, at Svtanville, Calif. Funeral services acre held Satur day afternoon at the Perl Funeral home In Medford for the late Roy Stanley, who succumbed to a heart attack Wednesday of last week at his home at Faille Point. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley are well-known here, having purchased the I). F. Lawtou ranch north of Fort Klamatli some time ago. They stayed at their ranch here during the year with the ex ception of the winter months, which they spent at their Eagle Point home. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond 8. Looslry of Fort Klamath attended the final rites in Medford last Sat urday. Mrs. Ord Pritchett and Mr. and Mrs. Neil Pritchett and children have moved to Madras, Ore., where they hae leased r business property consisting of a soda fountain and lunch room, and a Inch they are now operating. Ord Pritchett will leave soon also for Madras to assist in the management of the business. He and his brother Nell have been employed for some time ov Thomas Haakins on the hitwkms cattle ranch south of Fort Klamath, formerly known as the Wood River ranch. Gene Page was able to resume his classes at the Oregon Vocational school in Klamath Falls this week after being absent for ten days due to severe facial cuts and lacerations received in a recent automobile acci dent In Klamath Falls. Page re lumed to Klamath Falls Monday with Don Wlmer, who Is also a student at the school, and was re turning there after spending the aeek-end with Ills parents. "Busier " Knox miraculously escaped serious Injury, Including the possibility of death by drowning, oil Thursday night when his car went out of control on highway 7, hitting highway post near the Sand Creek highway patrol station and lauding bottom side up In Sand creek, which is nearly at flood stage at this time of year. Knox w:is unconscious for some time following the accident, and finally managed to extricate himself from the wreck by breaking a wliuloa- and climbing out. He was brought to Fort Klamath by a mem ber of the highway patrol at Sand creek. Although the car uns prac tically u total wreck. Knox received only minor cuts and bruises on his hand and face.
