We don't know who is the proudest, the parents, the teacher, or little Serena Smith herself. This charming little second grader at Fair view school was judged stale winner in the America the Beautiful con test sponsored by Milton Bradley (color crayons) company, and her entry of a stage setting and ballet dancers now enters national com petition. Serena's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Smith of 1114 East street, (papa is a member of the KUHS faculty), and Serena's teacher Is Irma Wauchope of Fainiew school More news concerning our Klamath Falls students. Margaret Bui lard, daughter of Mr. and Mn. W. L. Bullard of 4440 Boardman. . is making a name for herself at Reed college In Portland. Margaret Is a freshman student and recently won the Pacific Northwest College Con gress delegate post In competition with junior and senior students. She will represent Reed at the PNCC at Whitman college In Walla Walla. The Import of Margaret's talk. "UNESCO or Fiasco", was "Educational unanimity, the only road to world peace." Margaret is attending Reed on a scholarship from KUHS last year. Another honor: Marilyn O'Neill, the Joseph C. CNeill's younger daughter, recently had her name engraved on a bronze plaque as having the highest grades In her pledge class at Alpha Chi Omega sorority on the University of Oregon campus. Marilyn was home last week-end but sister Joan stayed at school, up to her ears at work including the job as chairman and moderator of a discussion with foreign students for the International student friendship festival. Joan and Sally Mueller. Mrs. Helen Mueller's daughter, share honors as co-chairmen for the Nickel Hop which will be given during the Asso ciated Women Students Preview Week-end beginning April 23 on the University of Oregon campus. The high school guests will be elected by their schools to attend this annual event Both girls are sophomores, Joan majoring in sociology and Sally in liberal arts. Tots Featured In Academy Recita The third recital presented by the faculty of the Sacred Heart school of music is a most Interesting one. About 30 little ones will give program of variety consisting of piano and violin solos and in terspersed with many ensemble pieces. It might be well to mention at this point In the recital season that it is the belief of the academy music teachers that parents should begin their children's musical education at four years of age. It is then that they are most capable of assimilating new material. Several very young children on this program gunrtayn show the successful results of three and four-year-old beginning. The girls are sending an Easter party kit to a Hungarian girl, Szabo Vilma Tor oknenlmiklim, In the kit will be cookies made by Nadine Nelson and Margaret Homer, gay crepe paper for decora tions, candy, chocolate, games, songs, prizes and materials for Easter baskets. Guest Speaker The first meeting of the month of Xi Delta chapter of Beta Sigma Phi was held on Tuesday at the home of Mrs. William Milne at 747 N. 8 th street, with Betty Zlrkle as hostess. William Milne was the guest speaker for the evening. His topic was Japan, its people, customs, and a general talk on his observations and experience while he was sta tioned on Japan island proper with the army. Along with his talk he showed examples of their clothing. He had some beautiful kimonas and yardage material in lovely colors and designs. The business meeting was directed by Miss Zirkle. Mrs. Lorn Dalcour, chairman of the Easter breakfast. reported on final plans for the affair. Final arrangements are being made for the card party to be held at the library club Tuesday, March 30.
