The Oeorgla governor accused the Klan of delivering the aouth 'Into the hands of our enemies," and accused the hooded secret or der of aiding communists and "race baiters." His denunciation of the Klan was coupled with a restraint of his opposition to proposed federal antl-lynch laws. The governor referred to recent election-eve demonstrations b.v the Klan In two East-Central Oeorria counties where negroes were reg istered to vote, and declared: Klan Threat "while our senators and con gressmen tell the world that we have enough laws and will enforce them, the Ku Klux Klan b.v such meetings cut the ground from be neath their Xcet." At both rallies. Klan leaders spoke against President Truman's proposed civil rights program and declared themselves for "white su premacy." - Thompson characterised the Klan "type of mind" as anti-southern and aaid the Klan itself was giv ing "aid to the communists, the race baiters and the radical or ganisations which are pushing the legislation we deem unwise and nnneee-sary." He appealed to "the ministers and good people of our state to see to it that the legislature gives us laws which will permit our courts to prevent such harmful ac tions and deeds." Alert Cabby Nabs Crooks PITTSBURGH. March 6 UP Two Aeuse robbers sought in a night long search by a small army of po lice were captured today still hand cuffed together some 10 miles from the scene where they wounded two radio patrolmen. The robbers had made their way overland through the hamlet of Mc Murray where they hired a taxi cab. The driver noting they were hand cuffed became suspicious and drove into an open gasoline station where two policemen were checking cars M a widespread search for the gun men. One of the robbers was wounded in the right shoulder. Chief of Al legheny county detectives, C. S. Johnston Identified the men as John Wilson, about 26, and Edward Dl Pofi. Officers Joseph Chymslinskl. 26, and George Kercher, 46, were the victims of surprise gunfire from two men they had captured looting home. The robbers were shackled to gether and were being herded in patrol cars when one whipped out a revolver and cried: "DdBI move, I've got you cov red." Th robber began blazing away as the officers grabbed for their own weapons. Chymslinskl fell. wounded In the back and abdomen. A shot in the side dropped Kercher. S. army officials today checked a former German pilot's claim that Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun escaped from Germany near the end of the war. One American official described as fantastic" the signed statement by Arthur Friedrlch Rene von Ange-lotte-MacVensen that the couple flew to Denmark In a Junkers S3 transport shortly before Germany surrendered In May, 1945. S. officers began questioning Mackensen yesterday when they re ceived a tip from a former girl friend, who said she did not believe him.
