Railroads, motors, steels and rubbers provided early leadership, although morning gains were not fully maintained in many Instances. Volume totaled around 800,000 shares. Better climoers Included Skelly Oil, Pacific Western Oil. Chrysler, U. S. Steel, Goodrich, "Montgomery Ward. Dow Chemical and Trans continental tz Western Air. On the offside were Eastern Air Lines, Du Pont and Cerro de Pasco. Ralls benefited from additional favorable earnings and dividend news. Support for many issues was provided by short covering. Carrier bonds were steady, com modities were mixed. At Chicago wheat finished up H to 1 cents a bushel, corn ) to 3'i higher and oats down to up 34. Cotton near the finish was 55 cents to $1.05 a bale lower.
