Dec, Most Stocks Show Losses NEW YORK. Feb. 20 (P) Stocks generally stumbled In today's mar ket without being given much of a push. Dealings were relatively slow from the start although activity picked up now and then. While scattered recessions of a point or so persisted near the close, the majority of minus signs held to small fractions. Trans fers for the five hours ran to around 750.000 shares. Brokerage clients still Inclined to no nothing. Professionals stepped lightly either way because of the forthcoming Monday Washington Birthday holiday when most mar kets will recess. Laggards the greater part of the session Included Republic Steel, Chrysler, General Motors, U. S. Rub ber, Sears Roebuck, Boeing, United Aircraft, Dow Chemical and Mission Corp. Wall Street was more cautions than pessimistic Good dividends were virtually ignored. Bonds were narrow. Skidding grain futures proved no aid to stocks. Cotton stiffened and, toward the finish, was up 10 to 55 cents a bale. At Chicago wheat ended off 24 to 4H cents a bushel, corn 14 to 2H and oats 1 to IS.
