KLAMATH FALLS, ORECON PACE TWELVE f PGE Avoids Full Closing Of Industry SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 6 The Pacific Oai Electric company reported today It had negotiated power curtailment and even partial plant shutdowns with Individual customer!, but said there had been no closings on an industry-wide basis. Redding, Calif., reported at least one large lumber mill there closed down yesterday and today and will reopen on a single 8-hour shift basis at S o'clock tonight. There were unconfirmed reports that Northern California power com panies were considering shutdowns in the lumber, mining and gold dredging Industries throughout Northern California and Southern Oregon. A Pacific Gas and Electric com nany spokesman here said his firm was making no industry-wide shut down. "We are pursuing our announced policy of negotiating agreements with Individual customers for cur tailed operations only where the customers' sechedules will permit," he declared. "These are with full consent of each customer and In no case are Industry-wide." He did not know what policy was being pursued by California-Oregon Power company, operating also in the north. He said the town of Red Bluff, Calif., yesterday had a 30-minute power shutoff because of a serious overload on the Cottonwood, Calif., substation. "We hope that this situation will never recur," he added. The present storm is Insufficient to bring even temporary power re lief, he declared. "That will come with the first storm heavy enough to end the unseasonal irrigation pumping load. This requires 200. 000 horsepower. "To bring permanent relief with assured full reservoirs, we need a long snowstorm over the higher mountains and a resulting deep snowpack to allow a gradual re lease of stream flows through the spring and early summer." The company added that the cut ting down of 60-cycle current to 59 'i procedure upsetting electric clocks through the San Francisco boy area, was continuing during peak hours. S. Robinson. The one-story modern home fin ished in white, machine-grooved shakes, Arizona stone, glass bricks and roofed with stained cedar shingles, hides spaciousness frqni the outside observer. It has 10 rooms in all. There are four bedrooms, two baths, two fireplaces, recreation room, utility room, living-dining room, kitchen and breakfast rooms and a two-car garage. Robinson, who owns the Klamath Cabinet shop on Spring street, drew up the plans for the house himself, and every type of modern cabinet is used. His family includes his wife, two children and his mother who spends some time in Klamath Falls. Gloss blocks are used to conceal the service entrance and in a panel beside the main en trance. The house has a full-size base ment where recreation room, utility room and one bath are located.
