Farley is the former postmaster general and democratic national chairman who parted ways with the late Presi dent Roosevelt when the third term campaign came along in 1940. The year 1940 was a big one po litically for Martin, too. He was chairman of the GOP national convention, then became national republican chairman during the Willkie campaign.
