Seven Die In Flaming Texas Hotel ORANGE, Tex., Dec. 28 lTV- Heven person perished In the flume swept nails and rooms or a small hotel here last mklrilKht while six other ttuesu Jumped from windows to safety. Only five of the seven dead had been Identified early this mornlnn. Nineteen persons were registered but only 13 were In the hotel when the blaze broke out. The Identified dead were listed as Junlous O. Carter, from Pennsyl vania, city not available; W. L. Jor dan, 41, Tampa, Fla.; BUI OouKlas, 36, address unknown, and Ralph Blade. 72, and Early Oilier, 43, both of Orange. ' The body of a man and a woman remained to be Identified. Three of the bodies were found In halls and four In rooms. All were In sleeping garments. One Found Alive Assistant Fire Chief E. L. Barker, president of the Orange volunteer fire company, said one of the seven was found alive by firemen but died on the way to a hospital. He esti mated damaice to the building and furnishings was 150.000, The flames were first seen short ly before midnight by taxi-driver, Leon Harris, and the hotel was "all ablaze" when firemen arrived. Bark er said. Bmoke and screams awakened some guesu and one, L. A. Blessltt, leaped from a window to the roof of an adjoining building. Blessltt said he was awakened by smoke and heard a man scream. He said he threw his clothing out the window onto the roof of the build ing, then Jumped. Mewberg Plans For New Hospital NEWBERG, Dee. 28 iP) A new hospital la proposed for Newberg on a seven-acre site on the eastern out skirts of the town.
